Aphelion

In astrology, the term aphelion is used to capture the moment when an object is furthest from the sun. In a time when social distancing requires working from home, often alone, one can feel a sense of isolation from others and from nature, including the sun.

These circumstances necessitate adjustments to our social interactions and work environment, allowing us to reimagine the objects within our living spaces so they can serve us not only functionally, but aesthetically too.

Here lies the inspiration for Aphelion, a sculpted sun-lamp that functionally meets the needs of a work-from-home station while capturing an essence of the outdoors to both warm and illuminate one’s given space.
