Gingko Disco

It just doesn’t get better than a Fall wedding in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. For this installation, over 900 origami gingko leaves were individually folded to create a living drop-ceiling above the dance floor of the wedding reception hall.

A Rhino model was developed to test the desired undulation, color distribution & density of leaves. After settling on a design, a custom grasshopper script was then used to extract fishing line length and leaf rotation variables to create the desired ceiling.
