Excerpts from syllabus: Proficiency with digital tools in the field of landscape architecture, needless to say, has become standard in professional practice. Digital tools are increasingly being used to help produce support graphics, presentations, but perhaps the most important use in the design industries since their introduction in the 1980’s has been digital drafting.

The increasing diversity of digital tools should not repress aspiring professionals, rather, it provides an opportunity to enhance and develop new workflows that never existed in the field. As the palette of tools continues to grow, Autocad will likely remain at the center of it all for the current generation of professionals at a minimum. Finally, as Building Information Modeling (BIM) continues to migrate into the field of landscape architecture, understanding the process of digital drafting in Autocad will be essential for the transition.
