Randall School

To say this project has a complex history is an understatement. Well over a decade ago, the first vision for the project was cast to develop the site of the former Elizabeth G. Randall Junior High School – a historic landmark from which music legend Marvin Gaye graduated. Fast forward many years, I had the privilege of getting to manage the construction administration phase of the project for Oehme, van Sweden.

The following description contains excerpts from the official Gallery 64 Residences website: “The building sits at 64 H Street, Southwest… at the heart of one of the city's most vibrant and artistic areas. Close to the Southwest Waterfront, Navy Yard and expansive public parks, the modern building is both design-forward and classically inspired. From the rooftop pool deck (part of the OvS design scope), residents can enjoy breathtaking views of the U.S. Capitol, Nationals Park and Audi Field.

The former Randall Junior High School has been restored to retain its historic character and transformed into a world-class museum, housing contemporary artworks from the renowned Rubell Family collection. A beautifully landscaped courtyard (main OvS design scope) connects the museum to the 492-residence, 12-story building which boasts curated artwork, best-in-class amenities and sweeping views of the U.S. Capitol.
